LED Wallpack explosion render

Technical Visualization

For this project, I used explosion rendering to transform a complex mechanical assembly into a clear, visually instructive experience. Built in SolidWorks, this exploded view doesn’t just look technical, it thinks technical. By manually positioning each component and rendering with precision, the final visualization bridges the gap between engineering and communication, making it ideal for manufacturing documentation, assembly guides, and technical marketing materials.

My Process
  • Assembly Modeling: Modeled each component in SolidWorks with accurate dimensions, then assembled all parts into a complete product using precise mates and alignment constraints.
  • Manual Explosion Layout: Manually positioned each component along a designated axis to ensure maximum clarity and control over the visual narrative. This approach allowed for better decision-making in spacing and composition.
  • Alignment & Orientation: Maintained proper alignment along assembly axes so that exploded components still clearly communicated how they fit together in the final product.
  • Strategic Spacing: Adjusted distances between components to ensure all parts were easily visible while preserving a logical, connected layout that reflects real-world assembly.
  • Component Labeling: Applied callouts and labels to identify parts by name or part number—crucial for usability in technical documentation and assembly workflows.
  • Final Rendering: Applied realistic lighting, materials, and shadows to render a clean, high-resolution exploded view suitable for professional presentation.
  • Export for Use: Delivered the final render in documentation-ready formats, ready for use in assembly manuals, catalogs, and marketing materials.
